Alimony Availability in Texas

Question:  When is alimony available in Texas?

Answer:  Generally, alimony is not available unless you have been married for ten or more years, and the requesting spouse cannot provide for their minimum reasonable needs. Alimony under most circumstances can last for no more than 3 years. Additionally, alimony is deductible to the person paying it, and taxable income to the person receiving it.
